The murder of Gennadyi Pavlyuk reminds the action of Kyrgyz secret services

The arrival of Kyrgyz journalist Gennadiy Pavlyuk in Almaty reminds planned action of secret services, Kazakhstani Vremya newspaper reports.

The edition notes that murderous assault against Pavlyuk, committed in southern capital of Kazakhstan on December 16, 2009, is detected and «the names of criminals are identified». According to the newspaper, the traces lead to «some highly ranked Kyrgyz secret service official, unofficially positioned as manager of Bakiev’s clan on security issues».

The edition says the journalist arrived in Kazakhstan to negotiate with some CIS and EU international relations development Fund. Allegedly, this organization offered the grant resources. It has to be mentioned that Pavlyuk was planning to launch the opposition web-based newspaper in Kyrgyzstan. This is confirmed by his correspondence with Ata-Meken opposition party leader Omurbek Tekebaev.
According to Vremya, Pavlyuk tried to check information about the sponsoring organization, but found nothing. He came to Almaty to meet the Fund’s representative in person and receive 50 thousand Euro.

The room was reserved for Pavlyuk at Kazakhstan hotel. On December 16, the dead body of Pavlyuk was found near one of the residential apartment buildings in Almaty. Later on it was identified that he was thrown from 6th floor. On December 22 Gennadiy died in the hospital without regaining consciousness.

Kazakhstani newspaper reports that Almaty police found out that few telephone numbers were dialed from the cell phone of Pavlyuk, addressed to Kyrgyz secret service officers. In the night of December 16-17, 2009 these people left Kazakhstan through Korday trans-border checkpoint.

«During the investigation the Almaty police found out that people, who killed Pavlyuk, were not careful – Vremya says. – Thus, usual statement, showing incoming calls to hotel room and cell phone of Pavlyuk, allowed identifying the number of phones and phone cards, registered to Kyrgyz secret service officers, including telephone numbers of secret services in Bishkek. These numbers allowed identifying some highly ranked Kyrgyz special service official, unofficially positioned as the manager of Bakiev’s clan on security issues». Vremya also indicates that despite high resonance in the region and the world, produced by the murder of the journalist, «very few policemen in Almaty» are involved in the investigation. «Our sources say neither National Security Service nor Foreign Affairs Ministry provide assistance to Almaty police».
